Newly released court documents have revealed an unexpected shift in the relationship between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, showing a more cooperative tone between the two tech leaders in early 2025.

The messages, which surfaced as part of Musk’s legal battle with OpenAI, indicate that Zuckerberg reached out to offer support during Musk’s controversial government reform push through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

In a text dated February 3, 2025, Zuckerberg acknowledged DOGE’s progress and revealed that his teams were actively monitoring online activity. He stated that efforts were underway to remove content that could expose or threaten members of Musk’s team, adding that he was open to providing further assistance if needed.

Musk responded positively with a heart emoji before shifting the conversation toward a potential collaboration. He asked Zuckerberg whether he would consider joining a bid to acquire OpenAI alongside other interested parties.

Zuckerberg did not commit to the proposal but suggested continuing the discussion privately over a call. According to additional documents, the Meta chief ultimately did not participate in the bid.

The exchange highlights a notable change in dynamics between the two executives, whose relationship had previously been marked by public tension, including a widely discussed challenge to a cage fight.
