Nigeria will host the 2026 ACI Africa conference

Nigeria has confirmed its readiness to host the 2026 Airports Council International Africa Regional Conference and Exhibition after the ACI Africa leadership paid a high-level visit to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo. The minister welcomed the Secretary-General of ACI Africa, Alli Tounsi, and her delegation in Abuja as part of early assessments and consultations for the event scheduled for September 2026. His media aide, Tunde Moshood, released the details of the visit.

Airports Council International, the global trade body representing airports worldwide, works to promote airport interests, improve safety and efficiency, and strengthen industry collaboration. Securing the 2026 conference reinforces global confidence in Nigeria’s aviation capability and its growing influence across the continent.

The ACI Africa team met with senior officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria. Those present included the Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku; Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire; and Director of Commercial and Business Development, Adebola Agunbiade. Their participation highlighted Nigeria’s institutional backing for the upcoming event.

Tounsi acknowledged Nigeria’s strategic importance in Africa’s aviation landscape and described the country as a natural host for the 2026 conference. She pointed out that Nigeria’s aviation footprint and leadership make it an ideal venue and emphasised the alignment of other aviation bodies already operating in the country. She expressed confidence that hosting the event in Nigeria reflects the strong ties between ACI Africa and the nation’s aviation stakeholders.

Keyamo assured the delegation that Nigeria would deliver an exceptional and globally competitive conference. He stated that the country has the capacity, infrastructure, and commitment required for a gathering of this scale and invited ACI Africa to rely fully on the nation’s preparedness.

He emphasised that Nigeria accepts the responsibility wholeheartedly and stands ready to host the continent and global aviation partners in 2026.
