Google releases Gemini 3

Google has unveiled Gemini 3, its most advanced AI model yet, built to deliver stronger reasoning skills and more capable digital agents across Google Search and the apps people use every day. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, said the launch opens “a new chapter in intelligence, agents, and personalisation,” noting that the company wants AI to become genuinely useful in people’s daily lives.

The Gemini 3 family debuts with Gemini 3 Pro, a model that performs at PhD-level reasoning and sets new standards in how AI solves complex problems. It can understand video, images, and even handwritten text with greater accuracy, and it reshapes what Google Search can do. Instead of just giving information, Search now acts more like a learning partner and productivity tool, offering deeper, more interactive assistance.

With the new AI Mode in Search, users can generate custom tools on demand. A physics student can view a three-body problem simulation instantly, while a homebuyer can get a personalised mortgage calculator without searching multiple pages. These real-time, tailored interactions show how Google intends to move beyond static search results and into hands-on problem-solving.

Gemini 3 also powers a more capable personal assistant in the Gemini app. Google AI Ultra subscribers can now delegate complicated tasks that cut across Google apps. The assistant can organise emails, draft replies, set up schedules, or even coordinate multi-step travel plans with minimal prompting, while still keeping the user in full control.

Developers also get a major upgrade with Google Antigravity, a new platform where AI agents can plan and execute software development tasks autonomously. The system handles everything from building new features to fixing bugs, providing clear task context and verifiable output. Google describes this as a shift toward agent-first development, where AI becomes a reliable co-builder rather than a simple coding tool.

Google says Gemini 3 went through the company’s most extensive safety checks so far and is now available worldwide through the Gemini app and in Search via AI Mode for Pro and Ultra users.

The release comes as global demand for AI education and productivity tools continues to climb. In Nigeria alone, Google reports that searches related to “AI and studying” have surged by more than 200 percent in the past year, while interest in “how to learn AI” has risen by 160 percent, a sign that more people are turning to AI not just for answers, but for long-term skills and growth.
