Our client in the plastic manufacturing industry seeks a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Officer to strengthen workplace safety and ensure full compliance across all operations. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain HSE policies, carry out regular safety inspections, enforce regulatory and company standards, lead safety trainings, and investigate incidents or near-misses. The role also involves maintaining accurate safety records and working closely with operations, HR, and maintenance teams to promote a consistently safe environment. The candidate must ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and programs
• Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
• Enforce safety standards, regulations, and company policies
• Lead safety trainings, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions
• Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions
• Maintain accurate safety documentation and records
• Collaborate with relevant departments to strengthen workplace safety
• Ensure appropriate use of PPE and safety equipment
Requirements
• 1–3 years experience as a Safety Officer (plastics industry advantage)
• Strong understanding of Nigerian HSE regulations
• Relevant certifications (ISPON, HSE Levels 1–3)
• Strong communication and reporting skills
• Ability to identify hazards and recommend solutions
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
