Adobe rolled out new AI assistants for its Creative Cloud products — Express and Photoshop — to help users create and edit images more efficiently.
Instead of sticking to the usual sidebar format that most companies use for AI assistants, Adobe designed a fresh mode for Express. This mode lets users type prompts to generate new images and designs directly. They can turn on the assistant mode to use AI prompts, then switch back to the standard tools and editing controls available in Express.
In Photoshop, Adobe placed the new AI assistant inside the sidebar. The assistant, now in closed beta testing, can understand image layers, automatically select objects, and create masks. It also handles repetitive editing tasks like removing backgrounds and changing colors.

Adobe’s vice president of generative AI, Alexandru Costin, told TechMarge that the company built a separate mode for Express to meet the needs of students and professionals who rely on the app. He explained that Adobe wants to see whether users can complete creative tasks without switching back to the traditional interface. Costin said the goal is to make the technology accessible and easy to control by allowing users to switch between two creative modes.
Adobe is also testing a new assistant called Project Moonlight. This project aims to connect different AI assistants from across Adobe’s apps and even link to creators’ social media channels to better understand their style. The company described the project as being in its early private beta phase.

Alongside these developments, Adobe is exploring an integration between Express and ChatGPT through OpenAI’s app integrations API. This setup would allow users to design directly within ChatGPT using Adobe’s tools.
Adobe also unveiled fresh AI features across its Creative Cloud suite. Photoshop users can now choose between third-party generative models like Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash and Black Forest Labs’ FLUX.1 Kontext to enhance the generative fill tool, which removes objects or expands images. In Premiere Pro, Adobe introduced an AI-powered object mask that helps editors identify people or objects faster and apply effects or color adjustments with ease.
With these updates, Adobe continues to blend creativity with artificial intelligence, giving artists and designers more control, flexibility, and speed in how they bring ideas to life.
